New to this year's /co/ Awards is the Motion Picture Eligibility Phase. As the pools of both of the former categories of Outstanding Comic Book Movie and Outstanding Animated Feature are put together, we have a much bigger selection competing for a much bigger prize. As a result, the Motion Picture Eligibility Phase has been installed.
The films listed below are those that meet the base eligibility requirements for the 2012 /co/ Award of
Outstanding Motion Picture. These films are put on the ballot linked below, wherein voters can give each of them one of the following scores:
6 (Poor)
7 (Okay)
8 (Good)
8.5 (Great)
9 (Outstanding)
9.5 (Excellent)
10 (Perfect)
There is also a N/A option for those who have no opinion on the film or who have not seen it yet. As this is
an overall award, we are not judging each film on particular aspects,
but rather, how the film worked as a cohesive whole: the entire
production.
Films that meet an average score of 8.25 will be eligible for
Outstanding Motion Picture during the nomination phase. Films that don't
meet that average, OR receive an overwhelming amount of "N/A" votes,
will not be eligible for Outstanding Motion Picture, but will still be
eligible for all other applicable categories. If less than 8 films meet
the average, then those films will be the nominees for Outstanding
Motion Picture. If less than 5 films meet the average, the average will be lowered by five one-hundredths (.05) of a point until at least 5 films meet the revised average.
The deadline to complete this form is
Sunday, December 9th. The list of which films are eligible will be released along with the nomination ballots on
Thursday, December 13th.
