*NOTE: The phrase "Motion Picture", in the context
of this awards program, refers to any film released in the year of eligibility
(December 1st, 2011 - December 31st, 2012) with ease of accessibility to
American audiences^ that is based on a comic book, comic book series, or
graphic novel, AND/OR is animated by hand, computer generation, etc., for more
than 75% of the film's running time.
In other words, "Motion Picture" = "Animated
or Comic Book Film"
^Exceptions to this rule with justifications may be made.
**An "Animated Series" is any animated television
show that has aired at least six new episodes within the year of eligibility
(December 1st, 2011 - December 31st, 2012). All eligible shows shall be
primarily judged based on their most recently completed season. If a show has
not yet finished its first season, it shall be graded on all episodes currently
released.
***In order to be eligible for this award, the song must be
at least 2 minutes in length OR have a standard song format
(Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Outro). Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
The song itself must have explicitly
been written for the motion picture.
ELIGIBILITY UPDATES:
Due to the low amount of eligible actresses, the category of
Distinguished Leading Actress in a
Motion Picture will only have four
(4) nominees this year.
None of the
actors from The Avengers will be
considered for Distinguished Leading
Actor/Actress in a Motion Picture. All of them are therefore eligible for
the Supporting Acting categories.
Leafie, a Hen into
the Wild will be eligible for all awards. The original Korean version of
the film will be the one used in judging.
A Monster in Paris
will be eligible for performance awards and overall awards only. Eligible performances will be based off the English-language
edition.
Rise of the Guardians
will automatically bypass the eligibility phase for Outstanding Motion Picture due to its late release date.
The Secret World of
Arrietty will only be eligible
for performance awards based on the American dub.
Including Leafie was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I hope Leafie wins something.
